£43 million Broad Marsh Bus Station and Car Park scheme wins Best New Car Park award

Stephen George + Partners (SGP) is delighted to announce that Broad Marsh Bus Station has won Best New Car Park category at the British Parking Awards. SGP supported Galliford Try with Technical Delivery Services for the c£43 million redevelopment of an existing in Nottingham, transforming it into a new landmark bus station, 1200-space multi-storey car park (MSCP), retail space and library. The scheme is believed to be one of the greenest car parks in the country and features 720 photovoltaic panels installed on the roof, as well as 81 electric vehicle charging points.

Alistair Branch, Partner & Head of Transport for SGP, joined representatives from the delivery team, led by Galliford Try, in accepting the award at a sparkling gala ceremony hosted by actor and comedian Kerry Godliman.

Comments Alistair: “We are delighted to have worked with Nottingham City Council, Galliford Try and the sub-contracting team to deliver the vision of a Bus Station and multi-storey car park with an almost civic aesthetic. The early engagement and close collaboration between all the team members overcame challenges such as a constrained city centre site and the complex interfaces between aluminium and glass panels, terracotta tiles and vertical aluminium fins. The completed project is a beautiful landmark for the people of Nottingham.”

In its 20^th year, the British Parking Awards recognise and celebrate best practice, innovation and achievement in the design and management of both public and private sector parking. The Best New Car Park category specifically looks for projects of “outstanding design and construction” that create “landmark structures.”

This follows on from the project’s continued success, winning the Constructing Excellence East Midlands 2022 Integration and Collaborative Working Award and the East Midlands Brick Awards 2022 for Sustainable Development of the Year, Commercial Development of the Year and Overall Award Winner.
