Stephen George + Partners LLP (SGP) is celebrating the start on site of the first stage of the eight-hectare employment zone, part of a larger 63-hectare mixed-use development on the eastern edge of Nottingham.

SGP was responsible for masterplanning the site and will be undertaking the design and delivery of the trade units, industrial warehouses and a local centre containing a convenience store and other retail units.

Working with long-standing client Henry Davidson Developments Ltd, this phase, which begin on site in January 2021, comprises a terrace of eight trade units, ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 sq ft plus one 28,860 sq ft warehouse delivered for leading self-storage provider, Storage Giant. Three of the trade units have also been let to national names, Screwfix, Tool Station and Howdens.

Says Studio Director, Chris Webster of SGP: “This mix of uses is ideal for harnessing SGP’s experience in masterplanning and designing both industrial units and local centres. Our long-standing working relationship with Henry Davidson Developments has helped us support their venture into industrial development, delivering a quality design and flexible unit sizes responding to local market needs.”

The design uses a simple, contemporary colour scheme of grey cladding, with flashes of soft teal to hark back to the development’s name. The colour scheme for the warehouse unit has been changed to reflect Storage Giant’s vibrant corporate identity.

Yorkshire-based Stainforth Construction has been awarded the contract and work started on site in January 2021.
