SGP celebrates latest addition to London Gateway

Stephen George + Partners LLP (SGP) is celebrating the completion of the latest SGP-designed warehouse facility at the London Gateway Logistics Park, the UK’s most advanced deep-sea container terminal and distribution park.

Working on behalf of client DP World London Gateway, SGP designed and delivered Plot 4020B, a new 7,218sq.m warehouse facility with ancillary offices and first floor plant area. SGP’s plans for the vacant 1.78ha site, formerly part of an oil refinery, included associated external works such as hard and soft landscaping, drainage and effluent treatment works.

James Nicholls, Managing Partner at SGP, commented: “Plot 4020B continues SGP’s long-standing association with DP World London Gateway, having previously designed three other units on the Logistics Park including Plots 1050, 3010 and the Common User Facility. This new warehouse facility, which has achieved BREEAM Outstanding, will help meet the continuing market demands in the industrial and distribution sector for high specification space, addressing current needs as well as future trends.”

SGP’s building design keeps with the precedent set by the London Gateway Logistics Park and associated LDO with its scale being broken down by the elevational treatment, including a mixture of shades of metal cladding and different cladding profiles used horizontally and vertically. The roof is expressed as a series of low pitches with central ridges with in-plane rooflights and PV panels. A small stub parapet upstand is incorporated at the eaves to contain a hidden gutter detail.
