Continuing its focus on growth and investment in its staff, Stephen George + Partners (SGP) has announced a number of promotions across the practice. Byron Magumise has been promoted to Associate, whilst Rachel Trend becomes Principal Architect and Dan Johnson becomes Principal Architectural Technologist.

Byron Magumise

Since joining Stephen George + Partners in 2017, Byron has been responsible for designing and delivering projects across a wide range of typologies, from industrial, office, mixed-use, retail and community.

Congratulating Byron on his promotion Stuart Hancox, Studio Director, says: “As an Associate, Byron will continue to build excellent client relationships and strengthen his record of successfully delivering complex projects across SGP’s Industrial and Mixed-Use sectors.”

A proactive member of SGP’s Shadow Board, Byron has taken an active role in supporting the growth and success of SGP. Byron also leads SGP ID – SGP’s inclusivity and diversity group.

Rachel Trend

Rachel works within the Transport team, delivering concept and technical designs, planning and technical drawings, planning statements, and liaising with clients, contractors and other consultants.

She delivers technical know-how in sustainable design and the conservation of heritage assets – including the refurbishment and extension of Listed buildings. She is a Certified Passive House Designer and has experience working with natural materials in construction.

Commenting on Rachel’s promotion, Alistair Branch, Partner at SGP, said: “Since joining SGP, Rachel has become a valued member of the Leeds office and Transport Team. Her passions for sustainability, heritage and Passivhaus are being applied across all sectors and knowledge shared within the business. Rachels promotion is deserved recognition for the effort and contribution to the business.”

Dan Johnson

Dan collaborates with the wider design team to create architectural layouts and 3D models, as well as planning and detail drawings, for projects in Offices, Industrial, Logistics, and Commercial sectors.

A specialist in Revit, ArchViz and Sustainable Design, he advises on Sustainability Strategy and our Sustainable Design Guide, RIBA2030, and the recently published ADRELO Project within SGP. He is Knowledge Lead for the Inclusion and Diversity Matrix Group.

Chris Webster, Studio Director at SGP, said: “A well-deserved promotion to Principal Architectural Technologist for Dan! His passion for sustainability and all things BIM related has helped not only push the team’s capability but has become a go to figure in the practice for technical, sustainability and BIM support.

His role has expanded from a supporting role within the team on the delivery of numerous projects in the industrial, workplace and retail sectors to successfully leading his own projects on site.

He is an invaluable member of the team and an important asset for SGP – well done Dan!”

These recent promotions showcase SGP’s continuing commitment to the creation of an equal and inclusive environment, nurturing talent from within the practice to build a strong and resilient business and ensuring great design and the efficient delivery of projects for clients.
