Following the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower Fire disaster and subsequent report by Dame Judith Hackett, one of the largest changes since the introduction of the CDM regulations is the introduction of new legislation covering the Building Regulations: The Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA).

Effecting all building types and not just residential Higher Risk Buildings (HRB), any project which requires Building Regulations approval will fall under the Building Safety Act Legislation, with new Duty holder responsibilities on Clients, Contractors, Designers, and the addition of new duty holders: the Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) and Building Regulations Principal Contractor (BRPC).

As a Chartered Architectural Practice with national coverage and extensive cross sector experience within the public and private sectors building types, Stephen George + Partners has embraced the new legislation to upskill our technical teams in the new BSA Duty Holder requirements of ‘Designers’ and to provide Building Regulations Principal Designer Services and BRPD Advisor Services to our Clients.

Multi-award winning Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015 and Building Safety Act 2022 Consultants, Safer Sphere are assisting SGP to provide the BRPD Role on our projects and instigate in-house training to widen our cross sector and regional BRPD capability.
