The client’s objective is to provide a landmark entrance which compliments the heritage assets within the station, enhances passenger facilities and is linked with a wider strategy to provide a new public realm plaza approach via the park to the town centre

The proposed new Station will provide a modern contemporary facility and include enhanced passenger waiting, retail facilities, staff accommodation and changing places facility.

The Scheme is being funded via the Transforming Cities Fund and is being developed in conjunction with First Trans Pennine, as station operator and Network Rail.
