SGP celebrates completion of first unit at new logistics hub near Kettering
The first unit at Symmetry Park, a new logistics hub accessed from the A14 at Kettering, has reached completion. Working with long-standing client Tritax Symmetry, Stephen George + Partners (SGP) developed the masterplan and plans for the warehouse and ancillary amenities on the site. Unit 2 comprises a 294,300 sqft warehouse, 14,330 sqft offices and 4,000 sqft hub offices.
Explains Marcus Madden-Smith, Partner at SGP: “This is the latest strategic land project for Tritax Symmetry that SGP has supported to its development phase. Unit 2 provides a flexible warehouse and logistics space which has been pre-let to Iron Mountain. Symmetry Park, Kettering has the capacity to offer a further 2 million square feet of logistics space (approximately).
Unit 2 warehouse carries the Tritax Symmetry style, using scale, colour, detailing and material selection to create a cohesive development of quality, contemporary architecture. Neutral grey shades soften the buildings into their background whilst ribbed and flat composite cladding panels and built-up profiled cladding systems are laid horizontally and vertically, adding texture and breaking down the scale of the buildings.
Both SGP and Tritax Symmetry are members of the UKGBC and Tritax Symmetry have been keen to promote the health and wellbeing of staff at Symmetry Park, adding leisure amenities such as a trim trail with exercise equipment, as well as areas to sit out and relax and a mobile coffee shop and lunch spot. Integration with local safe cycle routes aim to encourage staff to cycle to work, with secure cycle stores on site. The development is also located on local bus routes to maximise use of public transportation.
Concludes Marcus: “Symmetry Park, Kettering is ideally situated, with links to Felixstowe and the rest of the strategic road network. The remainder of Symmetry Park, Kettering will provide a state-of-the-art facilities to cater for the continued demand for logistics space.”
