SGP strengthens healthcare team with new appointment

Stephen George + Partners (SGP) is celebrating the appointment of Babor Qureshi to its healthcare team, as Principal Architect. Based in SGP’s Leeds office, Babor brings more than 18 years of experience to the AJ100 practice, primarily in healthcare sector, working closely with NHS Trusts and contractors across the UK.

Says Steve Batson, Studio Director and SGP’s healthcare team lead: “I have worked with Babor for over 20 years and delighted to be working with him again. I am excited to have his technical expertise and healthcare specific experience within the team. Our aim is to build on SGP’s strong existing portfolio and activities in the healthcare field, which include recently winning a place in four categories on the NHS SBS Healthcare Planning, Construction Consultancy and Ancillary Services (HPCCAS) framework.”

Babor has successfully delivered a variety of healthcare estate projects, from inception to practical completion, working in highly pressurised environments within time and budget constraints, solely managing high value projects ranging from £1m – £40m+.

Explains Babor: “I believe in healthcare facilities that positively impact lives and make a meaningful difference to families and their loved ones. I have worked in the sector for many years and understand the complexity of healthcare estate management and the huge pressures the NHS has been under for decades. I will apply my experience in developing client relationships, along with technical knowledge and the ability to work closely with project managers and contractors, to help deliver buildable facilities that will improve the work life of staff and the outcomes for patients for decades to come.”

Babor has an extensive portfolio of healthcare related projects, from acute and secondary care new build and refurbishment projects including specialist cancer and radiotherapy facilities, theatres and diagnostics centres.

Continues Babor; “I plan to share my skills and expertise across the SGP offices, supporting SGP’s continued growth in the health estate sector, particularly in methods such as modular construction. I currently mentor Part 3 students on their journey to becoming qualified architects and am keen to foster the next generation of professionals.”

Concludes Steve: “SGP has developed an expertise in the integration of new builds and the remodelling, refurbishing and repurposing of existing buildings to meet developing medical advancements and changes in the demand for treatments. Babor’s experience will support the continued integration of SGP’s multidisciplinary offering, including services such as BIM and data management, VR and 3D renders, and healthcare specific interior design.”
