James Blood

James leads on everything to do with IT, BIM, CGI and Automation across SGP. His work takes him across all regions & sectors, with Health and Logistics being particularly active currently.

He heads up SGP’s IT, BIM, CGI and Automation groups covering business functions and BIM & CGI services. He is currently a member of the British Standards Institute’s B555 committee and is especially proud of previously being nominated to act as a UK expert to contribute towards the writing international standards for data in the AEC industry.

He is passionate about leveraging the benefits of digital transformation and realising the value of data to improve decision making, in particular to help modernise the construction industry to remove waste and deliver better outcomes most importantly the optimisation of the operation and maintenance throughout an asset’s entire lifecycle. James is particularly interested in the realisation of digital twins and interconnected digital twins to enable a circular economy within the built environment.

Outside work, James’ hobbies include motorsport, motorbikes, snowboarding, DJing, cycling, and karate and hiking/mountaineering. He has also recently climbed MT Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa.
