Travel back in time and celebrate 50 years of Stephen George + Partners

By SGP

In the time since Stephen George left Leicester City Council to found his own architecture practice, the UK has endured and embraced seismic changes to the economic, social and political landscape of the country.

Working against an ever-changing backdrop that has encompassed everything from glam rock and disco, Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair, the arrival of personal computers and the World Wide Web, as well as the start of a new Millennium, SGP has weathered the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune”. Adopting new technologies and inclusive working practices, we focused on designing the most beautiful, practical and sustainable buildings for our clients and the future.

As part of our 50th birthday celebrations, we’ve put together a timeline of significant moments in the practice’s history – the people, the offices, the projects, the innovation, the awards, the events. A half century of exemplary design and great people who have continued to care, challenge and deliver for clients. We hope you’ll take a few minutes to have a look, reminisce and remember the stand-out moments from the last 50 years. Enjoy!
