We will be in touch with the school/parents in due course to arrange for prizes to be given to the children.
The judges found it extremely tough to choose the winners as we had so many amazing entries, all of which are available to view at: https://www.stephengeorge.co.uk/competition-entries-design-a-low-carbon-building/
Hear what our judges had to say:
Veronica Heaven, MD of The Heaven Company and Founder of Brief Cases – linking business and educations said: “It was lovely to thoroughly discuss the Better Building submissions with my fellow judges, Phoebe Armstrong from the Planet Mark and Jay Silva from SGP. There are some lovely concepts across the age categories with the under 9 Years age group creating some truly stunning models of their low carbon home ideas. There’s a good application of sustainable materials throughout all the submissions, which is great to see – I think we agreed on some worthy winners. Well done to all the budding designers that submitted their work!”
Phoebe Armstrong, Junior Engagement Manager at Planet Mark said: “It has been an absolute pleasure being asked to join the judging panel for Stephen George + Partners Better Buildings Competition alongside my fellow judges, from seeing 3D renders, models and drawings the participants made it incredibly hard to pick our winners. The passion and imagination of these sustainable buildings was really something to behold and I can’t wait to see these budding sustainable architects progress in their careers.”
Simon Matthews, Head of Sustainability at SGP said: “It has been fantastic seeing the entries coming in for our Better Buildings competition. From drawings and text to 3D models we have received a full range of amazing entries.
I don’t envy the judges for having to decide on the winners, such great use of sustainable materials, fantastic ideas for renewable technology and innovative designs.
It is so pleasing to see our Better Buildings website being put to such good use by so many aspiring architects of the future. Thank you to everyone who took part and for making it such an amazing competition.
And, of course, congratulations to all the winners.”
Jay Silva, Architect at SGP said: “Being a judge for the Better Building competition centred itself around sustainability. It was an inspiring experience with so many innovative designs, but selecting a winner proved to be an immensely challenging task due to the remarkable talent and creativity displayed by all the participants.
It was great to judge alongside Planet Mark and the Heaven Company; their unique approach to sustainability enabled the panel to decide upon the most sustainable design!”
